Appendix B FRU List B-3
B.2.1 Memory (DIMM)
The motherboard unit, which includes an ASIC called a memory access controller
(JSC-MAC) and provides memory access control, has eight memory slots. To remove
or mount DIMMs, power off the server.
TABLE B-2 shows DIMM specifications.
The memory consists of eight DIMMs in units of four. The server uses DDR2
SDRAM memory that has the following functions:
■ ECC error protection
■ Recovery from a memory chip error
For the replacement procedure, see Chapter 7.
B.2.2 PCIe Slot
The M3000 server provides four PCIe slots. Up to four low-profile type PCIe slots
can be mounted in these PCIe slots.
A PCIe slot has the following functions:
■ Supports the eight-lane PCI Express bus.
■ High-speed serial point-to-point interconnect
■ Extends the PCI data transfer rate to twice the value of PCI-X.
