Safety guidelines
While troubleshooting your server, follow these safety guidelines:
■ Never remove the top panel while your server is turned on and while the
modem cable and the power cord is connected.
■ Do not attempt to open the monitor. To do so is extremely dangerous. Even
if the power is disconnected, energy stored in the monitor components
can be dangerous. Also, opening the monitor voids its warranty.
■ Make sure that you are grounded correctly before opening the server. For
more information about preventing damage from static electricity, see
“Preventing static electricity discharge” on page 45.
■ After you complete any maintenance task where you have to open the
server case, make sure that you close the case and reconnect all cables
before you restart your server.
Warning To avoid bodily injury, do not attempt to troubleshoot your
server problem if:
■
The power cord or plug is damaged
■
Liquid has been spilled into your server
■
Your server was dropped
■
The case was damaged
Instead, unplug your server and contact a qualified
computer technician. If your server was damaged during
shipment from Gateway, contact Gateway Technical
Support. For more information, see “Telephone support”
on page 96.
