additional setup information
This section covers how to handle messages that may or may not appear during
installation, how to set up the connection between your computer and your
HP Officejet, and how to add and remove the HP Officejet software. The
standard installation instructions are provided in your Setup Poster, which you
should keep for later use.
possible installation problems
If you follow the instructions in the Setup Poster correctly, you should not have any
problems with the installation of your HP Officejet. If you do not follow the
instructions, you may encounter any of the following problems:
if the previous version installed message appears
If you receive a message that you have a previously installed version, you will
not be able to finish installing the HP Officejet software.
You will have to uninstall the previously installed version in order to install the
HP Officejet software.
if your computer is unable to communicate with your hp officejet
You may want to refer to the Readme file for more information on possible
installation problems. On Windows PC, you can access the readme file from the
Start button on the taskbar; select Programs, Hewlett-Packard, hp officejet 5100
series, Readme. On Macintosh, you can access the Readme file by double-
clicking on the icon located in the top-level folder of the HP Officejet software
CD-ROM.
set the language and country/region
Usually, you set the language and country/region when you install the
HP Officejet. If you set the country/region or language incorrectly during
installation, use the following procedure.
Tip — If you are unable to read the front-panel display language,
but need to reset it, press S
ETUP, 5, 5. Follow the onscreen
instructions.
1 Press S
ETUP until 5:Maintenance appears, and then press ENTER.
2 Press until 5:Set Language & Country/Region appears, and then press
E
NTER.
3 Watch the display until the desired language appears. Enter the language
code on the keypad. Press 1 for yes or 2 for no when the display asks you
to confirm your selection.
After the language is selected, you are prompted with all the countries/
regions for that selected language.
