4 Power switch
Use the power switch to turn on the computer. To turn off your computer, use the Start menu shutdown
options.
If you cannot turn off the computer by using this method, press and hold the power switch for 2 seconds.
The power switch also can be programmed via Power Manager to shut down the computer or put it into
sleep (standby) or hibernation mode.
5 Power status indicator
Your computer has a power status indicator. For the details, see “Power status indicator” on page 10.
6 Fingerprint reader
Some models have the ngerprint reader. The ngerprint authentication technology enables you to use your
ngerprint to start the computer and enter the ThinkPad
®
Setup.

7 System status indicator
Your computer has two system status indicators, one on the outer lid of your computer and the other on
the palm rest. The illustration above shows the one on the palm rest. For details, see “System status
indicators” on page 9

The stereo speakers are built into your computer.

The keyboard contains the unique TrackPoint pointing device. Pointing, selecting, and dragging are all part
of a single process that you can perform without moving your ngers from typing position.

touch pad to move the pointer.
The TrackPoint and TrackPoint buttons provide functions similar to those of a mouse and its buttons.
13 Built-in microphone
The built-in microphone captures sound and voice when it is used with an application program capable
of handling audio.
