Fax – sending
Problem Cause & Remedy
I cannot send document.
The other party complains that
letters on their received document
are distorted.
The other party complains that dirty
patterns or black lines appear on
their received document.
I cannot make an international fax
call.

The other party’s fax machine is busy or has run out of paper. Try
again.
●
The other party’s machine is not a facsimile. Check with the other
party.
●
The other party’s fax machine rings too many times. Send the fax
manually – dial the number, confirm the fax tone, then press
.
●
If your line has special telephone services such as call waiting,
the service may have been activated during fax transmission.
Connect the unit to a line that does not have these services.
●
The extension telephone on the same line is off the hook. Hang
up the extension telephone and try again.
●
The glass or rollers are dirty. Clean them (p. 132).
●
Use the overseas transmission mode (p. 74).
●
Add two pauses at the end of the telephone number (p. 42) or dial
manually.

Fax – receiving
Problem Cause & Remedy
I cannot receive document
automatically.
The display shows “CONNECTING.....”
but faxes are not received.
The recording image is faint.
The printing quality is poor.
A blank sheet is ejected after the
received document is printed out.

The receive mode is set to the TEL mode. Set to the TAD/FAX,
FAX ONLY or TEL/FAX mode.
●
The time taken to answer a call is too long. Decrease the number
of rings (p. 80, 87, 115).
●
The greeting message is too long. Shorten the message (p. 98).
●
The incoming call is not a fax. Change the receive mode to the
TEL or TAD/FAX mode.
●
The sender transmitted a faint document. Ask them to transmit a
clearer copy of the document.
●
The thermal head is dirty. Clean it (p. 133).
●
Some paper has instructions recommending which side to print
on. Try turning the paper over. We recommend smooth paper
such as Hammermill Jet Print for clearer printing.
●
The receiving reduction rate is not programmed correctly.
Program the proper rate (p. 89).
