5.3.1 Page /ength
Youcan definepagelengthin eitherinchesor lines-a matterofpersonal
preference.WhenyoufirststartFX-850emulationyourprintersetsthepage
lengthto 11inchesand66 lines.
The deftition of a “line” dependson the lines-per-inchspacing.If you
changeline spacingafter you set the page length,the pagelengthwon’t
change.Andifyouprintpagesactuallylongerthantheinstalledpapertray,
theStarLaserPrinter4 willprintthemon two sheetseach.
To seta diffe~nt pagelengthin lines,enterthiscommand:
<ESC>C n
For n you enterthenumberof linesyouwanton a page(maximum127).
To seta differentpagelength in inches,enterthiscommand:
<ESC>C @KJL>n
Fornyouenterthenumberofinchesinlengthyouwantthepage(maximum
22).
Note: theprintpositionatthemomentyousetpagelengthwillbeyournew
top-of-page.Whenyou changepagelengththe StarLaserPrinter4
putsthebottommarginbacktoitsdefaultvalue,so youmaywantto
resetit.
5.3.2 Topand bottommargins
TheFX-850emulationprovidesfortopandbottommarginsinauniqueway,
combiningthe top-of-page(as set by page length) with the Skip-Over-
Perforationcommand.(Remembcrthatthedot-matrixFX-850printeruses
continuousforms,whicharejoined withperforations.)
By settingthe Skip-Over-Perforationyoucan controlthe numberof lines
skippedatthebottomofonepageand,ifyouwant,atthetopofthenext.First
makesurethe printpositionis on thelineyouwantto be yourtopmargin,
andsetyourpagelength.ThensendthisSkip-Over-Perforationcommand:
