The following is a list of possible printer problems and solutions.
Many problems can be corrected as you follow the steps on this list.
1 Does the printer power light come on?
YES - Go to number 2.
NO - Check the following:
■ Is the power cord plugged into both the power outlet and the
printer?
■ Is the printer’s power switch in the ON position (|)?
■ Is the power outlet working? Plug a lamp into the outlet and
see if it turns on. If not, the outlet may be faulty.
■ Does the line voltage of the power outlet match the printer’s
power requirements? See appendix B, “Technical Specifica-
tions.”
2 Can you print a start-up page?
YES - Go to question 3.
NO - Check the following:
■ Does the currently selected input bin have paper?
■ Are all printer covers closed securely?
■ Is there a paper jam? Jams locations are indicated on the
printer icon on the control panel.
3 Is the printer receiving data from the computer?
YES - Go to question 4.
NO - Check the following:
■ Check the status of the Receiving indicator. If it blinks after
the file is sent, the printer is receiving the data.
■ Print a status page from the control panel. If you are using the
serial interface, are the baud rates (speed of data transmis-
