Preparing the notebook
To prepare the notebook for maintenance:
1 Make sure that the disc drive is empty.
2 Turn off the notebook.
3 Close the LCD panel.
4 Disconnect the AC adapter, and network cable.
5 Disconnect all peripheral devices connected to the notebook and remove any Express
Cards and memory cards.
6 Remove the battery. For more information, see “Removing the battery” on page 57.
Removing the battery
To remove the battery:
1 Turn the notebook over so the bottom is facing up.
2 Slide the battery lock to the unlocked position .
3 Slide the battery release latch, then slide the battery out of the notebook.
