Troubleshooting Using the Activity LEDs
Under some conditions a port Activity LED may not light. Use the
troubleshooting suggestions in Table 5-2 to help determine why the light is
off, and to isolate the source of the problem.

LED State Possible Problem Troubleshooting Solutions
Off There is no traffic
received from the
segments (normal).
None.
Concentrator
power is Off.
Check the Controller Module
Power LEDs.
The Activity LED
has burned out.
Press the LED test button on the
Controller Module.
A Security Module
port is faulty.
Connect the cable to a different
port.
The module
connection to the
backplane is bad.
Reinsert the Security Module. If this
fails to correct the problem, try
another concentrator slot.
The Security
Module is faulty.
Try a different Security Module.
