5.1 OVERVIEW
Local Management for the 2H28-08R consists of a series of management
screens, some of which allow the management of the 2H28-08R and its
attached segments, and some that report statistics. The management
screens allow the user to do the following tasks:
• Assign IP address and subnet mask.
• Select a default gateway.
• Control access by establishing community names.
• Download a new software image.
• Designate which Network Management Workstations receive SNMP
traps from the device.
• View statistics.
• Configure ports.
• Control the number of receive broadcasts that are switched out to the
other interfaces.
• Clear NVRAM.
There are three ways to access Local Management:
• Locally using a VT type terminal connected to the COM port.
• Remotely using a VT type terminal connected through a modem.
• In-band through a Telnet connection.
