System Messages

3 Possible motherboard
failure.
Contact Dell (see "Contacting Dell" on
page 269).
4 RAM Read/Write
failure.
Ensure that no special requirements for
memory module/connector placement
exist (see "Memory" on page 157).
Ensure that the memory you are using is
supported by your computer (see
"Memory" on page 33).
If the problem persists, contact Dell (see
"Contacting Dell" on page 269).
5 Real time clock failure.
Possible battery failure
or motherboard failure.
Replace the battery (see "Replacing the
Battery" on page 251).
If the problem persists, contact Dell (see

6 Video BIOS Test
Failure.

THIS CHECKPOINT AND CONTACT DELL TECHNICAL SUPPORT The computer
failed to complete the boot routine three consecutive times for the same error (see
"Contacting Dell" on page 269 for assistance).
CMOS CHECKSUM ERROR Possible motherboard failure or RTC battery low.
