Self Replication for Virtual Device Migration
Self replication is the process of replicating data between two devices on the same D2D Backup System. This
model requires that there is sufficient disk space on the D2D Backup System to hold two copies of the data being
migrated but, with 2.1.00 and 1.1.00 software, a replication license is not required for self replication. If
migrating several devices, it may be necessary to do them serially in order to preserve disk space.
There are two versions of this model
Migration when the original device is not already part of a replication mapping to another appliance. This
method is termed “Non Replicated device self replication migration”
