4-4 Setting the Margins
Setting the Margins in the Scan Direction
Set the left and right margins for the printing area.
You can set the scan-direction (left and right) margins only
at the time of media setup.
After setting the printing area, pressing the [SETUP] key to cancel the setup for the media (making the SETUP LED go out)
cancels the printing area that has been set.
Using [PRINT AREA] to set the printing area when the starting location in the scan direction has been specified with the
[BASE POINT] key, the setting made with the [BASE POINT] key is canceled.
If the print-head carriage moves away from the standby position when not printing, problems such as drying-out of the print
heads or dot drop-out during printing may occur. For this reason, about 60 seconds after pressing the [
] key to move the
print-head carriage, the print-head carriage returns to the standby position.
Also, the print-head carriage returns to the standby position when about 30 seconds passes during this interval after the [ ]
and [
] key is released. If the setting could not be made in within the time limit, then do the setting over again from the
beginning.
When the printing area is set to the full width of the media, fluctuations in media-width detection or slight crookedness of the
media may result in printing outside the media, causing soiling of the platen. If this happens, then do not specify a printing area.
Instead, use the default printing area in effect when the media is set up.
When the media clamps are used, then do not specify a printing area. Instead, use the default printing area in effect when the
media is set up. The media clamps hold down a 10 mm (7/16 in.) edge on either side of the media. When the media clamps are
