Test Cases for DB2 Table Space Data Sets 181
Figure 112. Test Case 5 - ISMF Storage Group Volume Display
Figure 113 on page 181 shows an extract from an IDCAMS LISTCAT display of
one of the Table space partitions defined in this test, showing the SMS attributes,
and the space allocation in cylinders:

A.7 Partitioned Table Spaces Using SMS, User Distribution
Test case 6 illustrates how it is possible to define partitioned table spaces,
ensuring SMS maps each separate partition to a separate Storage Group.
The aim, as in the previous test case, is to obtain the benefits of DB2 parallelism,
but using the naming convention of the Table spaces to assign partitions to each
Storage Group. This example defines two partitioned table spaces, each with four
partitions using an existing naming conventions.
A.7.1 Create Storage Groups
Eight Storage Groups are allocated for the purpose of this test. One disk volume
is assigned to each Storage Group (SGDBA001 - 4 and SGDBB001 - 4). Table 31
