Instructions for installing the DS3200 in a rack cabinet are provided in the Rack
Installation Instructions.
To connect your DS3200 to other devices, use the following options, which must be
purchased separately:
v IBM IM SAS cable
v IBM 3M SAS cable
v Host bus adapters (HBAs) in the hosts

The weight of this part or unit is between 18 and 32 kg (39.7 and 70.5 lb). It
takes two persons to safely lift this part or unit. (C009)
Attention: A fully configured DS3200 weighs up to 30 kg (66 lb). At least two
people should lift the DS3200 from the shipping box. You might want to open the
sides of the shipping box and remove the components from the DS3200 before you
lift it from the shipping box, to lighten the storage subsystem.
The following steps summarize the DS3200 installation process:
1. Review the preparation recommendations. See “Preparing for installation” on
page 20.
2. Prepare the installation site. See “Preparing the site” on page 21.
3. Prepare the rack cabinet. See the Rack Installation Instructions.
4. Record the serial number, machine type and model number, and RAID
controller MAC addresses for your DS3200 storage subsystem in Appendix A,
“Records,” on page 109. See Figure 1 on page 2 for the location of the serial
number.
The MAC addresses are labeled near the Ethernet port on each RAID
controller.
5. Install and secure the DS3200 chassis and components in the rack cabinet.
See the Rack Installation Instructions.
6. Install in the rack cabinet the storage expansion enclosure that you will cable
to the DS3200. Follow the instructions in the Rack Installation Instructions for
your storage expansion enclosure to set up and mount the storage expansion
enclosures.
