6). At Command Prompt, ping the printer to verify connectivity between computer
and the printer. At computer select START – PROGRAMS – ACCESSORIES –
COMMAND PROMPT (or similar). Type: ping 192.168.24.74 (as an example)
and select ENTER. Four (4) ‘REPLY …..’ messages should appear. If
‘REQUESTED TIME OUT….’ messages appear then connectivity is incorrect –
verify steps 1 through 6 again.
7). Assign IP address at RIP (host
workstation) and set data type. The
IP address will be the same as the
printer’s IP address (i.e.
192.168.24.74). Data type must be
set to <9100> for proper data
transfer to occur. Pictured below is
ONYX’s printer port setup splash
screen; a port test may be activated
once values are set – a ‘Valid IP
Address!’ message should appear.
RIP and print operations may begin
at this point.
