Note: The Toner Low light can be displayed with other status light sequences. Status light
sequences are ones that indicate the status of the printer, such as Ready, Not
Ready, Canceling Job, Flushing Buffer, and so on. These type of light sequences
do not require that you do something to the printer. The Toner Low light is not
displayed with light sequences requiring that you attend to the printer, such as light
sequences for clearing jams, changing the cartridge, closing doors, inserting trays,
loading print media, or printer memory, flash memory, and network errors.
Toner Low when the Toner Alarm is set to Off
What this light sequence means:
The print cartridge is low on toner and the Toner Alarm is set to Off.
Note: The Toner Alarm setting is available in the Local Printer
Setup Utility. For more information, see Using the Local Printer
Setup Utility.
What you can do:
Remove the print cartridge, shake it, and then reinstall it. See
page 72 in Replacing the print cartridge for an illustration of
how to shake the print cartridge. Press and release Continue to
clear the message and continue printing.
Replace the print cartridge. See Replacing the print cartridge
for instructions to replace the print cartridge. Press and release
Continue to clear the message and continue printing.
Toner Low when the Toner Alarm is set to On
What this light sequence means:
The print cartridge is low on toner and the Toner Alarm is set to On.
Note: The Toner Alarm setting is available in the Local Printer
Setup Utility. For more information, see Using the Local Printer
Setup Utility.
What you can do:
Remove the print cartridge, shake it, and then reinstall it. See
page 72 in Replacing the print cartridge for an illustration of
how to shake the print cartridge. Press and release Continue to
clear the message and continue printing.
