Q
How long do the batteries run?
A
About 3 hours of continuous operation is possible. This figure
is simply a reference value and can vary considerably
depending on the ratio of read/write operations, operating
environmental temperature, etc. To save battery power, we
recommend that you eject the adapter from the FDD after use. The
shown operation time figure given in this manual represents the
standard value obtained under test conditions when using batteries
specified by Olympus.
Q
Can the adapter be used with Windows 3.1?
A
Yes. However, it is not compatible with the Windows 3.1 3-
mode FDD driver. Always uninstall the 3-mode FDD driver
before using this adapter.
For more information about the 3-mode FDD driver, refer to your
computer’s user guide. (Additional details can also be found in the
README.TXT file on the Device Driver Setup Disk.)
Q
Why does the adapter become inaccessible after a
certain period?
A
Because it incorporates a shutdown mode to extend battery
life.
This mode is activated if the Floppydisk Adapter has not been
accessed for 5 minutes.
To exit the shutdown mode and to reactivate, eject the Floppydisk
Adapter from the FDD and re-insert it.
Q
Is write protect available?
A
No, the Floppydisk Adapter does not recognize the write
protect condition even when a write protect sticker is attached
to the SmartMedia,. Be very careful not to erase or overwrite
recorded data by mistake.
