Print Quality Problems
Problem
Light or blurred
characters.
Make sure the DRAFT mode is not selected.
Check ÔInk LevelÕ to see the amount of ink remaining.
See page 7.3. If the print cartridge has completely run
out, ÔINK OUTÕ is displayed in the LCD. Install a new
print cartridge. See ÔReplacing the Print CartridgeÕ on
page 7.10.
Make sure you are using the correct type of paper.
See ÔPaper Type and SizesÕ on page 2.7 for more
information.
Make sure Ink Saver feature is Off in the User Options.
Make sure the print cartridge is installed correctly.
Clean the print cartridge. See ÔRun Nozzle TestÕ on page
7.5.
Smudged or dark
characters.
Make sure you are using the correct type of paper. See
ÔPaper Type and SizesÕ on page 2.7.
If you are in a Windows-based environment, select
Medium or Maximum Ink Saver Mode in the User
Options.
Make sure the paper is straight and unwrinkled.
Let ink dry before handling the paper.
Change print quality to the DRAFT mode.

7.5.
Characters with white
lines.
If ÔINK OUTÕ is displayed, install a new print cartridge.

Remove and reinstall the print cartridge.

If printing transparencies, try changing the fill pattern in
your application software.
