Reverse
Raw
Simple pipe between a TCP/IP
host and a machine/device
attached to a port on the unit.
The connection is set up from
the TCP/IP host on the local
network to the unit (the opposite
of Direct Raw and Silent Raw).
To access printers or dialout modems
(with separate host-based print/modem
handling software).
Reverse
Telnet
(Default)
Enables a TCP/IP host to
establish a login connection on
an external machine attached to
a port
To access machines like routers,
firewalls, servers and so on.
Silent
telnet
or rlogin
When using the unit as a
Terminal Server, to bypass the
unit and allow users to login
straight into a specific host.
These are permanent
connections, therefore consume
system resources
Users on terminals.
Reverse
SSH
Enables a SSH secure
connection to establish a login
connection on an external
machine attached to a port.
Secure remote connection to access
machines like servers, routers, firewalls
etc.
Silent Raw Enables external non-login
devices to access TCP/IP hosts
via the unit. The connection is
set up from the unit to a TCP/IP
network host on the local
network (the opposite of
Reverse Raw). These
connections are established
automatically; they are suitable
for computer to computer
communications.
