Option Problems
Problems Action
An IBM option that was
just installed does not
work.
Verify that:
1. The computer and Dock I hardware settings do not conflict.
2. The option is designed for the Dock I.
3. Be sure to follow the instructions supplied with the option.
4. The option is installed correctly.
5. You have not loosened any other installed options or cables.
If the failing device is a SCSI device, run “SCSI subsystem”
diagnostics on the Dock I Option Diskette.
If the above items are correct and the test programs found no
problems, have the system unit and the option serviced.
If the option does not work with a specific computer, have that
specific computer serviced with the Dock I.
An IBM option that used
to work does not work.
Verify that:
1. All of the option hardware and cable connections are securely
connected.
2. If the option came with its own test instructions, use those
instructions to test the option.
If the failing device is a SCSI device:
1. Verify that the cables for all external SCSI devices are correctly
connected.
2. Verify that all external SCSI devices are turned on. External
SCSI devices must be turned on before the Dock I is turned on.
If the failing device is a SCSI device, run “SCSI subsystem”
diagnostics on the Dock I Option Diskette.
If the above items are correct and the test programs found no
problems, have the system unit and option serviced.
If the option does not work with a specific computer, have that
specific computer serviced with the Dock I.
