1.1 Symbols in the text and their meaning
Notes, i.e. important user information
appear in a grey box and are marked
with an information symbol .
Buttons and function keys which need
to be pushed on the data entry screen,
are printed in bold capitals.
Figures in brackets refer to item num-
bers in drawings.

1.3 Instrument type
All information contained in this instruction
manual applies exclusively to the instrument type
indicated on the title page.
A name plate bearing the instrument serial num-
ber is attached to the back of the instrument.
1.2 Qualification of personnel
Only trained laboratory personnel may operate the
Leica CM3600.
Prior to operating the instrument, the operator
must thoroughly read and understand this instruc-
tion manual and must familiarize him/herself with
all technical details of the instrument.
