a From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
b Click Network.
c Click Ethernet.
d Write down the IP Address.
3 Enable file sharing on the computer:
In Mac OS X version 10.5
a From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
b Click Sharing.
c Select File Sharing from the list of Services.
d Click Options.
e Select Share files and folders using SMB.
f Select accounts to enable Windows File Sharing, and then click Done.
In Mac OS X version 10.4
a From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
b Click Sharing.
c Select Windows Sharing.
A warning icon appears.
d Select Enable Accounts.
e Select an account that has administrative privileges, and then enter the password for that account.
The warning icon should now be cleared.
4 Create a scan address in the Embedded Web Server:
a Type the printer IP address into the address field of your Web browser.
Note: If you do not know the IP address of the printer, then print a configuration page and locate the address
in the IP Address section.
b Click Address Book.
c Under Server Address Book, click Individual Directory.
d In the Directory Listing, click Add for any blank address.
e In the Name field, type the name that you want this address to appear under in the Address Book.
f Change the server type to SMB.
g In the Server Address field, enter the IP address of the computer.
h In the Port Number field, enter 139.
i Type the Login Name and Login Password using the shortname of the account that has Windows File Sharing
enabled.
Note: 1. To determine the login/shortname, select the hard drive icon on the desktop of the Mac, and then
open the Users folder and note the name of the folder corresponding to this account.
j In the Share Name field, type the shortname.
