If you are installing a DIMM, see Installing a DIMM in the next
section.

If you are not installing a DIMM, replace the cover (see “Replacing
the Cover earlier in this chapter).
Installing a DIMM
Use the following steps to install a memory module.
1.
Remove the cover (see Removing the Cover earlier in this chapter).
2.
If you need to remove a currently installed DIMM, see Removing a
DIMM” earlier in this chapter.
Before you install a DIMM, reduce static
discharge by touching the chassis.
3.
Align the notches on the new DIMM with the keys in an empty
memory socket (see the following figure).
4.
Press the DIMM firmly into the socket.
5.
Ensure that the locking clip at each end of the DIMM clicks closed.
