If you write to an S-register that is not programmable or
if the value you assigned is invalid, the modem will still
return an OK message to the computer screen. The
attempted changes will not affect the S-register values.

Reading an S-Register Value
The following table describes how to read a value for an S-Register.
1 From the command mode, type ATSn (n= the number of
the S-register that you want to read) and press ENTER.
2 The value of the requested S-register displays.
NOTE: If you attempt to read the value of an S-register that is not
supported, the modem will display an ERROR message.
Supported S-Registers
The following table outlines the list of S-Registers that can be used to
customize your modem.
Register # Function
0 Automatic Answer. Determines if the modem
automatically answers incoming calls.
• If the value assigned to this register is 0 (zero),
the modem does not answer the call but sends an
appropriate message to the computer that
commands the modem to answer the call.
• If the value assigned to this register is a non-
zero, the modem answers the call without
waiting for the computer to issue its answer-call
command.
