Common procedures using the CLI
The following section describes common procedures you use while
commissioning the Nortel Ethernet Routing Switch 8600.

Saving the configuration
After you change the boot configuration, you must save the changes
to both the master and the standby management modules. Save the
configuration to a file to retain the configuration settings.
Procedure steps
Action
Save to configuration by using the following command:
save <savetype> [file <value>] [verbose] [standby
<value>] [backup <value>] [mode <cli|nncli>]
Variable definitions
Use the data in the following table to use the save command.
Variable Value
backup
<value>
Saves the specified file name and
identifies the file as a backup file.
value uses one of the following
formats:
• /pcmcia/ <file>
• /flash/ <file>
file is a string of 1–99 characters.
