≥If your line has special telephone services such as call waiting,
the service may have been activated during fax transmission.
Connect the unit to a line that does not have these services.
≥The extension telephone on the same line is off the hook. Hang up
the extension telephone and try again.
≥The glass or rollers are dirty. Clean them (p. 118).
≥Use the overseas transmission mode (p. 61).
≥Add two pauses at the end of the telephone number (p. 32) or dial
manually.
Fax – receiving
I cannot receive documents.
I cannot receive document
automatically.
The display shows “CONNECTING.....”
but faxes are not received.
The recording image is faint.
The printing quality is poor.
A blank sheet is ejected after the
received document is printed out.
≥The telephone line cord is connected to the EXT jack on the unit.
Connect to the LINE jack (p. 24).
≥The receive mode is set to the TEL mode. Set to the FAX ONLY
or TEL/FAX mode.
≥The time taken to answer a call is too long. Decrease the number
of rings (p. 66, 75).
≥The incoming call is not a fax. Change the receive mode to the
TEL mode.
≥The sender transmitted a faint document. Ask them to transmit a
clearer copy of the document.
≥The thermal head is dirty. Clean it (p. 118).
≥Some paper has instructions recommending which side to print
on. Try turning the paper over. We recommend smooth paper
such as Hammermill
®
Jet Print for clearer printing.
≥The receiving reduction rate is not programmed correctly.
Program the proper rate (p. 77).
