Thisvaluewillremainunlessyoupowerofftheprinter.Ifyouwanttoretain
this value even after you turn off the power, store it using the Macro
Definitionfunction,whichis describedbelow.
Notethatyoucan onlychangethis valueimmediatelyafterloadingpaper.
If youfeed paper,youcannotchangethe autoloadingvalue.
Clearingthe buffer/Allreset
The printer stores receiveddata in a large memorybuffer.This createsa
problemwhenyouwanttoabandonaprintingjobandrestart:theprintermay
be holding more data in its buffer than it has actuallyprinted, and this
unprinteddatamustbe clearedoutbeforerestarting.Turningpoweroff is
oneway to clearthe buffer,butthereis anotherway:

Halt the printingprogramon the computer.If printingstopsimmedi-
ately,thebufferis clearandtherestof thisprocedureisunnecessary.If
printingdoesnot stop,continueas follows:
Press the(
ON
LINE

buttonto set the printeroff-line.Printingwill
now stop,buttheremay be dataremainingin the buffer.
Press and holdthe (
ON LINE
)button.
While pressing the (
ON LINE
>
button down, press and hold the
-button. Continueholdingthesetwobuttonsdown.Inone second
you willheara beeptonesignalingthatthe bufferhas beencleared.
If youholdthesebuttonsmorethreeseconds,youwillhear threebeep
tones signalingthat the printer has been initializedto the power-on
defaultsettings.
Releasethesebuttons,makeanynecessarycontrolpanelsettings,then
setthe printerbackon-line.
Itisessentialtohalttheprintingprogramonthecomputerbeforeyougooff-
line.Otherwise,whenyougo backon-linethe computerwillstartsending
dataagainandtheprinterwillcontinueprinting,withmissingdatawherethe
bufferwas cleared.
NOTE:If you are using the SPC-8K,Serial-ParallelConverter,reset the
converterbypressingtheredClearbuttononitbeforeyouresetthe
printer.
Selectingtheprint color
Normally,thisprinterprintswithblackevenif thecolorribbonisinstalled.
