DOWNLOAD CHARACTERS
Withthisprinteryoucancreatenewcharactersandsymbols,downloadtheir
dotdata,andhavethemprintedin placeof selectedcharactersin the regu-
lar characterset. Charactersthatcan be generatedin this way rangefrom
simplebutusefulsymbolslikethecheckmarkthroughcomplexChineseor
Japanesecharacters.
Regular characters are permanentlystored in the printer’s ROM, but
charactersyoudesignare downloadedandstoredin RAMfor use.
DESIGNING YOUR OWN DRAFT CHARACTERS
Designingand printingyour own charactemhas two requirements:first,
designingtheshapeofthecharacter,calculatingthedatanecessarytomake
the shape,and sendingthat datato the printer,and secondly,sendingthe
commandtoprintthedownloadedcharactersinsteadoftheregularcharac-
ters. Thereare a numberof designconstraintsfor downloaddraft quality
characters:
● The matrix or gridon whichyoudesignthecharactersis six boxeswide
by nineboxeshigh.
● Horizontally,dotsmaybecenteredinabox, ormaystraddlealine,making
he actualcharactergrid 11dotswideby9 dotshigh.Vertically,dotscan
