E1 Card Impedance
Jumper Settings
These jumpers reside behind the BNC connectors on the VoIP Convergence Card
(see Figure 2-37 and Figure 2-44). Use these jumpers to ground the Tx ring and/or
the Rx ring on the BNC connectors. these jumpers control the BNC pair directly in
front of them. This table details the jumpers’ use:
Description Use Jumper Configuration
The terminals are
balanced and are not
grounded.
Note
For 120twisted pair
applications, all jumper
shunts must be removed
from the pins to provide
at least 2.5mm clearance
between network lines
(TRing and Rring) and
ground.
This jumper
configuration is
required to connect a
balanced 120
twisted pair E1
network.
Note
This is the only
configuration for
120 impedance
setting.
The TRing (the coax
shield for the Tx pair) is
grounded directly.
The Rring (the coax
shield for the Rx pair) is
not grounded.
This jumper
configuration is
normally used to
connect an
unbalanced 75 coax
to BNC connectors on
an E1 network.
The TRing (the coax
shield for the Tx pair) is
not grounded.
The Rring (the coax
shield for the Rx pair) is
grounded directly.
This configuration
may be used with
certain unbalanced
75 coax E1
networks.
Note
Use this configuration
only if the network
provider requests it.
The ITU requires this
setting.
