Device Name Thedefault isCiscofollowedbythe last
5digitsoftheRouter’sserialnumber,whichisfoundon
thebottomoftheValet.Ifyouusedthesetupsoftware
forinstallation,thentheDeviceNameisthenameofyour
wirelessnetwork(upto15characters).(TheDevicename
isalsotheValet’sNetBIOSname.)
DHCPServerSetting
The Valet includes a DHCP server that automatically
assignsIPaddressesto computers,cell phones, gaming
systems,andotherDHCPenableddevicesonyourhome
network.
NOTE:IfyouchoosetoenabletheDHCPserver
option,makesurethereisnootherDHCPserver
onyournetwork.
DHCPServerSetting
DHCP Server DHCPisenabledbyfactorydefault.Ifyou
alreadyhaveaDHCPserveronyournetwork,oryoudo
notwantaDHCPserver,thenselectDisabled(noother
DHCPfeatureswillbeavailable).
NOTE:If you disconnectacomputeror device
from your network and reconnect it to the
network at a later time, it may be assigned a
newIPaddress.Ifyouwanttoensurethatthe
computer or device uses the same IP address
allthetime,youcanusetheDHCPReservation
option.
DHCP Reservation ClickDHCP Reservationifyouwant
toassignafixedlocalIPaddresstoaspecificdeviceon
yournetwork.Thisishelpfulifyouhaveadevicewhose
IPaddressmustalwaysremainthesame,suchasamedia
serverorprintserver.ToreserveanIPaddressforaspecific
device,selectitfromthelistofdevicesormanuallyenter
theMediaAccessControl(MAC)addressofthedevice.
DHCPReservation
YouwillseealistofDHCPclientswiththefollowing
information: Client Name, Interface, IP Address, and
MACAddress.
DHCPReservation
 Select Clients from DHCP Table Click the Select
checkboxtoreservea client’sIP address.Thenclick
Add Clients.
 Manually Adding Client To manually assign an IP
address, enter the client’s name in the Enter Client
Namefield.EntertheIPaddressyouwantittohavein
theAssign IP Addressfield.EnteritsMACaddressinthe
To This MAC Addressfield.ThenclickAdd.
ClientsAlreadyReserved
AlistofDHCPclientsandtheirfixed,localIPaddresses
isdisplayedatthebottomofthescreen.Ifyouwantto
removeaclientfromthislist,clickRemove.
Click Save Settings to apply your changes, or click
Cancel Changes to clear your changes. To update
theon-screeninformation,clickRefresh.Toexitthis
screenandreturntotheBasic Setupscreen,clickClose.
Start IP Address Enter avalue for theDHCP server to
startwithwhenis
suingIPaddresses.BecausetheValet’s
defaultIPaddressis192.168.1.1, theStartIPAddressmust
be192.168.1.2orgreater,butsmallerthan192.168.1.254.
ThedefaultStartIPAddressis192.168.1.100
.
Maximum Number of Users Enter the maximum
numberofPCsthatyouwanttheDHCPservertoassign
IPaddressesto.Thisnumbercannotbegreaterthan253.
Thedefaultis50.
IP Address Range Displayedhereistherangeofavailable
IPaddresses.
Client Lease Time ClientLeaseTimeisthelengthoftime
thatadevicewillbe“leased”adynamicIPaddress.Af ter
thetimeisup,thedevicewillbe automaticallyassigneda
newdynamicIPaddress,ortheleasewillberenewedwith
thesameIPaddress.Enterthelengthoftime,inminutes,
thatadevicewill be“leased”a dynamicIPaddress.The
defaultis0minutes,whichmeansoneday.
