Forwarding
The Port Range Forwarding screen allows you to set up
public services on your net work, such as web servers,
FTP servers, e-mail servers, or other specialized Internet
applications. (Specialized Internet applications are any
applicationsthatuseInternetaccesstoperformfunctions
suchasvideoconferencingoronlinegaming.SomeInternet
applicationsmaynotrequireanyforwarding.)
Whenuserssendthesetypesofrequeststoyournetwork
viatheInternet,theValetwillforwardthoserequests tothe
appropriate servers(computers). Before usingforwarding,
you should assign static IP addresses to the designated
servers(usetheDHCPReservationfeatureontheBasic Setup
screen,referto“DHCP Reservation”onpage17 for more
details).
Ifyouneedtoforwardallportstoonecomputer,clickthe
DMZ tab.

Toforwardaport,entertheinformationoneach linefor
thecriteriarequired.
Application Name In this field, enter the name you
wishtogivetheapplication.Eachnamecanbeupto12
characters.
Start~End Port Enter the number or range of port(s)
usedbytheserverorInternetapplications.Checkwiththe
Internetapplicationdocumentationformoreinformation.
Protocol Select the protocol used for this application,
eitherTCPorUDP,orBoth.
To IP Address Foreachapplication,entertheIPaddress
ofthePCrunningthespecificapplication.Ifyouassigned
a static IPaddress to thePC, then you can click DHCP
ReservationontheBasic Setupscreentolookupitsstatic
IP address (
refer to“DHCP Reservation” on page 17 for
moredetails)
.
Enabled Select Enabled to enable portforwarding for
theapplicationsyouhavedefined.
ClickSave Settingstoapplyyourchanges,orclickCancel
Changestoclearyourchanges.

Triggering
The Port Range Triggering screen allows the Valet to
watch outgoing data for specific port numbers.The IP
address ofthe computerthat sendsthe matching data
isrememberedbytheValet,sothatwhentherequested
data returns through theValet, thedata is pulled back
to theproper computer byway ofIP address andpor t
mappingrules.

Application Name Enter the application name of the
trigger.
Triggered Range Foreachapplication,enterthestarting
andendingportnumbersofthetriggeredportnumber
range.CheckwiththeInternetapplicationdocumentation
fortheportnumber(s)needed.
Forwarded Range For each application, enter the
starting and ending port numbers of the forwarded
portnumberrange.CheckwiththeInternetapplication
documentationfortheportnumber(s)needed.
Enabled SelectEnabledtoenableporttriggeringforthe
applicationsyouhavedefined.
ClickSave Settingstoapplyyourchanges,orclickCancel
Changestoclearyourchanges.
