Internet IP Address The Valet’s Internet IP address
is displayed. Because it is dynamic, it will change
periodically.
Status The status of the DDNS service connec tion is
displayed.
Update Tomanuallytriggeranupdate,clickUpdate.

AMediaAccessControl(MAC)addressisa12-digitcode
assignedtoauniquepiece ofhardwareforidentification.
Some ISPs will require you to register a MAC address
for Internet access. If your computer’s MAC address is
registeredwithyourISPandyoudonotwishtore-register
the MAC address, you may assign the registered MAC
addresstotheValetwiththeMACAddressClonefeature.

MACAddressClone
Enabled/Disabled To have the MAC Address cloned,
selectEnabled.
MAC Address Enter the MAC Address registered with
yourISPhere.
Clone My PC’s MAC ClickthisoptiontoclonetheMAC
addressofthecomputeryouareusing.
ClickSave Settingstoapplyyourchanges,orclickCancel
Changestoclearyourchanges.

This screen is used to set up the Valet’s advanced
functions. Operating Mode allows you to select the
type(s)ofadvancedfunctionsyouuse.DynamicRouting
automaticallyadjustshowpacketstravelonyournetwork.
StaticRoutingsetsupa fixedroutetoanothernetwork
destination.

NAT
Enabled/Disabled IftheValetishostingyournetwork’s
connectiontotheInternet,keepthedefault,Enabled.If
anotherrouterexistsonyour network,select Disabled.
When Network Address Translation (NAT) is disabled,
dynamicroutingwillbeavailable.
DynamicRouting(RIP)
Dynamicrouting usestheRoutingInformationProtocol
(RIP). This option enables the Valet to automatically
adjust to physical changesin the network’s layout and
exchange routing tables with the other router(s). The
Valet determines the network packets’ route based on
thefewestnumberofhopsbetweenthesourceandthe
destination.
Enabled/Disabled When NATis disabled,the Dynamic
Routingoptionisavailable.TousetheDynamicRouting
option,selectEnabled.
StaticRouting
Astaticrouteisapre-determinedpathwaythatnetwork
information must travel to reach a specific host or
network.Entertheinformationdescribedbelowtosetup
anewstaticroute.
