NetStructure™ 470T and 470F Switches User Guide
Configure MAC Address Filtering
Description
MAC address filtering allows the switch to drop unwanted packets. The
switch drop a packet when it sees the specified MAC address in either the
source address or destination address. For example, if your network is
congested because of high utilization from a specific MAC address, you can
filter all packets transmitted from that address and restore network flow
while you troubleshoot the problem.
Enter MAC: Indicates the MAC address you want to filter.
VLAN/VLAN ID: Indicates VLAN or VLAN ID. If VLANs are active on
the switch, you can set MAC address filtering on a per VLAN basis. For
port-based VLANs, press z to select the name of the VLAN. For
tag-based VLANs, type the VLAN ID.
ADD/DELETE: Adds or removes a MAC address from the switch’s table.
