Chapter 4 Troubleshooting Procedures
Symptom: "Please Call Service" error is in the LCD. Unique switch F6, position 2 is set to a1.
Suggested corrective action:
Verify the heater lamp turns on when the power is turned on.1.
If the lamp turns on, check the thermistor surface for dirt. If dirty, clean the thermistor.2.
If after cleaning the thermistor, the unit does not operate properly, check the resistance between the 3.
two thermistor leads. When cold, the resistance should be approximately 5K ohms. Replace the
thermistor. If the resistance is correct, replace the power supply or the printer mechanical controller.
If during step 1 the lamp did not turn on, check conductivity of the heater lamp. Replace the lamp if 4.
there is no conductivity.
Check the 120 VAC into the lamp. If it is not present, replace the power supply.5.
If the lamp is good and the AC voltage is present, check for conductivity of the thermal fuse. If open, 6.
replace the fuse.
If the thermal fuse is good, replace the printer mechanical controller or the power supply.7.
