TRUENAME
Internal Command
The TRUENAME command displays the actual path of virtual drives
created with SUBST, network drives, normal drives, and the contents of
environment variables.
Syntax
TRUENAME [path |% environmentvariable%]
Remarks
TRUENAME will display the full path to a network drive or a drive created
with SUBST.
If TRUENAME is not given a path or environment variable it will display
the full path of the current drive up to the current directory.
Long directory or file names will be truncated to 8.3 format.
Network drives will be expanded to show the drive letter in
//SERVER/VOLUME: format.
Option
The %environmentvariable% option will cause TRUENAME to display the
contents of the environment variable passed to truename.
Examples
TRUENAME C:
Displays the full true path of drive C:.
TRUENAME G: (where G: is a drive created with SUBST)
Displays the full true path of the actual drive and path that was SUBST’d.
