The F/T Switch (Fax/Telephone Mode)
When you share one line for your telephone and fax machine, in the F/T switch mode, the fax
machine can determine whether an incoming call is a fax or a telephone call. (See Chart below.)
RECEIVING FAXES AND OTHER CALLS
BASIC SETUP TO RECEIVE FAXES
Incoming Call
All extensions in the home
will ring for 0-4 rings
(Ring Delay-see page 7-2).
The fax machine
picks up after Ring
Delay elapses.
The fax machine picks up
the call and automatically
detects whether it is a fax
or voice call.
Automatic
fax call
Automatic or

Fax reception is
automatically
activated.
Only the fax handset
rings (double ring)
for you to pick up.
The handset will ring
for 10-60 seconds
(F/T Ring Time-see

The fax message

seconds.
The caller stays
on the line through
the entire 10-60 second
Ring Time.
You pick up
the fax handset.
The fax mode
is activated.
Talk as normal,
or press Start
key to receive a
manual fax.
The caller may hang up.
A) If you are at the
fax machine, press
START.
B) If you are at an
extension phone,
you can transfer
the fax call to the fax
unit by pressing your
Remote Activation
Code (three digits-see
page 7-10~12).
You pick up any
extension within Ring
Delay selection.
You must manually
determine if it is a
voice or fax call.
Talk as
normal.
