Chassis Installation Requirements
Note For installation of the Cisco Catalyst 6509 Switch, make sure that enough room exists in front of the
equipment rack where you plan to install the switch to accommodate installation personnel and the
scissor lift (or similar lifting device) that holds the switch in the rack while it is bolted in.

The site requires the following front and rear clearances for chassis installation and maintenance access:
• 50 inches (127 cm) to install each chassis
• 36 inches (91.4 cm) to service components and allow system airflow
