5.3 ADVANCED DIAGNOSTICS
ERROR CODES
ADVANCED DIAGNOSTICS error codes occur if
the system recognizes a problem while running
the COMPAQ ADVANCED DIAGNOSTICS Pro-
gram. These error codes help identify possible
defective subassemblies.
Table 5-2 lists possible error codes, a description
of the error condition, and the action required to
resolve the error condition.
In each case, the Recommended Action column
lists steps necessary to correct the problem. After
completing each step, run the ADVANCED
DIAGNOSTICS Program to verify whether the
error condition has been corrected. If the error
code reappears, perform the next step, then run
the ADVANCED DIAGNOSTICS Program.
Follow this procedure until the ADVANCED
DIAGNOSTICS Program no longer detects an
error condition.
The error codes are in the form of AYY-XX or
AAYY-XX. A or AA is the number that represents
the faulty subassembly. YY denotes the test or
action that failed. XX denotes a specific prob-
lem. For example, error code 610-01 shows that
the diskette drive change line test exceeded the
maximum soft error limit.
For assistance in the removal and replacement
of a particular subassembly, see Chapter 7,
REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT
PROCEDURES.
