9. Attach the power and data cables to the CD/DVD drive.
10. If you are installing an IDE drive, another CD/DVD drive may be attached to the same data cable by another connector. The other end of the data cable
should connect to the system board connector labeled "IDE." To locate the system board connector, see System Board Components.
If you are installing a SATA drive, connect the other end of the data cable to a SATA connector on the system board.
11. Check all cable connections and fold cables out of the way to avoid blocking airflow between the fan and cooling vents.
12. Reinstall the drive panel (see Replacing the Drive Panel).
13. Replace the computer cover (see Replacing the Computer Cover).
14. Connect your computer and devices to their electrical outlets, and turn them on.
See the documentation that came with the drive for instructions on installing any software required for drive operation.
15. Enter system setup (see System Setup) and select the appropriate Drive option.
16. Verify that your computer works correctly by running the Dell Diagnostics. See Dell Diagnostics.

NOTICE: Do not attach a SATA optical drive to an HDD connector on the system board or it will not function. Attach SATA optical drives to the connectors
labeled SATA on the system board.
