Memory and processor problems
The system detected memory errors during start up
The system does not recognize a new or second processor

Probable cause Solution
Memory was added or
removed, and the new
configuration was not saved
in the BIOS Setup utility
Open the BIOS Setup utility and save the new memory
configuration.
The memory was installed
incorrectly
Make sure that the memory is properly seated and
oriented.
A memory chip is faulty Replace the card with the faulty chip. Third-party
diagnostic programs can help determine which chip or
memory segment is failing.

The processor was installed
incorrectly
Check the installation. Make sure that the processor
is fully seated in its socket. The processor should be
recognized automatically if it was installed correctly.
