Use dedicated service tools (DST) to determine the release of the Licensed Internal
Code by completing the following steps:
__ 1. At the display station that is your console, press the System Request key. On
the System Request line at the bottom on your display, type DST (in capital
letters) and press Enter.
__ 2. If the (use dedicated service tools (DST)) sign on screen appears, skip to the
next step.
If the DST display does not appear on the console, sign on to DST. If you do
not know the DST user and DST password, try the system-supplied value of
22222222 for both the user and password.
If you have a problem, contact your service representative for assistance.
__ 3. The Use Dedicated Service Tools (DST) display appears.
Select the option to Start a Service Tool.
__ 4. The Start a Service Tool display appears.
Select the option for the Hardware service manager.
__ 5. The Hardware Service Manager display appears.
The Release (such as, V3R7M0) appears on this display.
__ 6. Press F3 two times.
The Exit Dedicated Service Tools display appears.
__ 7. Select the option to Exit Dedicated Service Tools.
If V3R7M0 Licensed Internal Code is installed, follow the preceding instructions
for migrating from a Model 236.
If V4R1M0 Licensed Internal Code is installed, use the following instructions.
v Refer to the Installing a New Release of the Licensed Internal Code appendix
in the book Changing Your System Configuration-SSP, SC21-8295-03, for
instructions about how to install the most recent release of the Licensed Internal
Code.
v Refer to Path D: Adding OS/400 to an AS/400 Advanced 36 Model 436 that has
only SSP 7.5 installed in the Getting SSP and OS/400 Installed and Running,
SC21-8377-01, book for instructions about how to add OS/400.
Note: Do not complete steps 3 and 4 in Task 3 of the Getting SSP and OS/400
Installed and Running book. Those steps do not apply to Task 3.
v After you install the most recent release of OS/400 and create the Advanced 36
machine, follow the directions for migrating a Model 4xx to a model 7xx.
If either V4R1 or V4R2 Licensed Internal Code is installed, use the following
instructions.
v Refer to step 4 in the Installing a New Release of the Licensed Internal Code
appendix in the Changing Your System Configuration-SSP, SC21-8295-03, for
instructions about how to install the most recent release of the Licensed Internal
Code.
