9 Maintaining and Updating
Maintaining
the Printer
In addition to the automatic cleaning of the printheads that takes place
during a mail run, the printer requires other minimum maintenance to
ensure that a clean, clear meter stamp appears on your mail. To
accomplish this, you must monitor the printer components. Maintenance
for these areas is discussed below.

How To Print a Test Pattern
1. Press the Menu key.
2. Select Maintenance.
3. Select Print Test Pattern.
4. To print the test pattern on tape, press Tape.
OR
To print on a piece of mail, feed an envelope.
5. Check the test sample after it prints.
If the lines are solid and unbroken, the meter stamp is acceptable.
If the lines are broken or faded in areas, you must clean the printer
nozzle.

The system asks you if you want to clean the printer nozzles.
6. To clean the nozzles, select Yes.
To skip cleaning the nozzles, select No.
The system brings you back to the Maintenance menu.
