A.1 Installing a SCSI Hard Disk Drive With
Solaris Running
Before performing the instructions in this section, install the Hard Disk Drive by
following the instructions in Section 4.1, “Installing and Removing Hot-Pluggable
SCSI Hard Disk Drives” on page 4-2.
We recommend you use the instructions below in conjunction with the cfgadm(M)
man page.
1. With the new Hard Disk Drive physically installed in the drive bay, log into the
system as root and run the format command to make the disk visible to the
Operating System.
To do this, type the following (the sample output below is from a system containing
two Hard Disk Drives):
2. Type the following command to find out the label of the new Hard Disk Drive
(this appears in the Ap_Id column of the sample output):
In the sample output above, the new disk is Disk 1 (in the server’s outer drive bay).
