4.12 Optical disk drive (DVD-Super Multi drive)/SD board 4 Replacement Procedures

Installing the optical disk drive/SD board
To install the optical disk drive/SD board, follow the steps below and refer to Figure 4-19 to
4-22.
1. Set the ODD FPC, ODD rear plate, ODD side plate and ODD side plate F to the
optical disk drive and secure them with the following screws.
M2×4C S-THIN HEAD ×2
M2×3B S-THIN HEAD ×3
2. Connect the SD board FPC and ODD FPC to the connectors CN9710 and CN1820
on the SD board.
NOTE: When replacing a SD board with a new one, set the MIC cover to the SD board
in place.
3. Peel off the double-side tapes (D-tape circle) on the cover assembly.
4. Stick new double-sided tapes (D-tape circle) and peel off the separators.
5. Stand the optical disk drive and set the SD board to the cover assembly in place.
6. Connect the inner harness to the connector CN6070 on the back of the SD board.
7. Secure the SD board with the following screws.
M2×3B S-THIN HEAD ×4
8. Stick the SD board FPC on the double-sided tapes.
9. Set the optical disk drive in place.
CAUTION: The laser beam goes out when turning on the power of the computer,
because there is no cover on the optical disk drive. The power must be
turned off when you remove or install the optical disk drive.
