Replacing the Broadcom Network
Adapter and Configuring the Boot
Menu to Boot From iSCSI
NOTE: In this section, NIC refers to LAN On Motherboard (LOM) or the Broadcom
NetExtreme PCIe adapter on the motherboard of the PowerEdge system and
replacing the failed NIC is accomplished by replacing the PCIe adapter or the
motherboard.
To replace and reconfigure the NIC that is configured to boot from iSCSI:

Retrieve the boot configuration settings from the previous boot
configuration file. For more information, see "Restoring the iSCSI Boot
Configuration From a Backup File" on page 68 or "Determining iSCSI
Boot Configuration Settings From a Failed NIC" on page 69.

Replace the NIC and update the NIC firmware. For detailed instructions
on replacing the NIC, see the documentation that is shipped along with
your system. For the latest firmware, see the Dell Support website at
support.dell.com

Restore the boot configuration settings. If you have the iSCSI boot
configuration settings file, you can restore these settings. If you do not
have the iSCSI boot configuration settings file, you must manually enter
this information. For more information, see "Manually Entering Boot
Settings from the iSCSI Boot Menu" on page 59.
The following section describes how to configure, save, and restore virtual
disk boot settings to the replacement NIC.
