9. Lift the processor thermal-cooling assembly out of the computer.
17.2 Installing the Processor Thermal-Cooling
Assembly
CAUTION: Before working inside your computer, follow the safety instructions in the
XFR D630 Product Information Guide and in the XFR D630 User’s Guide.
NOTICE: To prevent static damage to components inside your computer, discharge static
electricity from your body before you touch any of your computer's electronic components. You
can do so by touching an unpainted metal surface.
1. If you are installing the original processor thermal-cooling assembly, skip to step 5; otherwise
continue to the next step.
2. Clean the heat sink. Use the cleaning pad provided with the processor thermal-cooling
assembly kit to clean the area between the 4 captive screws.
3. Apply the thermal grease. Follow the instructions provided with the processor thermal-
cooling assembly kit when using the syringe to apply thermal grease in a spiral pattern to the
processor thermal-cooling assembly.
4. Check the motherboard. Check the system board for any thermal pads on the large IC's next
to the processor. Remove any pads on top of the IC's. These came from the original
