factor pluggables (SFPs) are optical transceivers t hat can be removed from a PIC
(for m ore information, see “ Physical Interface Cards (PICs)” on page 9).

SFPs are hot-insertable and hot-removable. Removing an SFP does not interrupt PIC
functioning, but the removed SFP no longer receives or transmits data. To replace an SFP,
perform the following procedures:

1. Place an electrostatic bag or antistatic mat on a flat, stable surface to receive the SFP.
