horizontalancillary(HANC)orverticalancillary(VANC),alsocalledverticalblankinginterval(VBI),data.
HANCdatacanbedisplayedusingthenormalvideodisplaymechanismbyprogrammingIMGHSIZEnto
occurpriortotheSAVcode.TheHANCdataincludingtheancillarydataheadermustbepartofthe
YCbCrseparateddataintheFIFOs.TheVCTHRLDvalueandEDMAsizemustbeprogrammedto
comprehendtheadditionalsamples.Youmustdisablescalingandchromare-samplingwhenincludingthe
displayofHANCdatatopreventdatacorruption.
VANC(orVBI)dataiscommonlyusedforsuchfeaturesasteletextandclosed-captioning.Nospecial
provisionsaremadeforthedisplayofVBIdata.VBIdatamaybedisplayedusingthenormaldisplay
mechanismbyprogrammingIMGVOFFtooccurbeforethefirstlineofactivevideoonthefirstlineof
desiredVBIdata.NotethattheVBIdatamustbeYCbCrseparated.Youmustdisablescalingandchroma
re-samplingwhenthedisplayofVBIdataisdesiredorthedatawillbecorruptedbythefilters.
TherawdatadisplaymodesareintendedtooutputdatatoaRAMDACorotherD/A-typedevice.Thisis
typicallyRGBformatteddata.Notiminginformationisinsertedintotheoutputdatastream;instead,
selectablecontrolsignalsareoutputtoindicatetiming.Rawdatadisplayincludesasynchronizeddual
channeloption.ThisallowschannelBtooutputaseparatedatastreamusingthesameclockandcontrol
aschannelA.Thismodeisusefulwhenusedwithasecondvideoportinsystemsthatrequire24-bitRGB
output.
TherawdatamodeusesasingleFIFOof5120bytesforstorageofoutputdata.TheFIFOisfilledby
EDMAswritingtotheYFIFOdestinationregisterA(YDSTA).EDMAsarerequestedusingtheYEVTA
event.Inrawsyncmode(RSYNCbitisset),theFIFOissplitinto2560-bytechannelAandBbuffers.The
channelBFIFOisfilledbyEDMAsusingtheYFIFOdestinationregisterB(YDSTB)asadestination.
BothYEVTAandYEVTBeventsaregeneratedusingthechannelAtimingcontrol.
