Tested
Parallel I/O The data and status registers of the Centronics
PAL are read. A successful test completes
very quickly (<1 s). ªPASS TEST PRESS
ENTERº will be indicated. If the test fails, the
system will hang up. A system error error
code will NOT be displayed, and power to the
plotter must be recycled. This tests only a
small portion of the Centronics I/O
functionality. To EXIT, press ENTER button.
Main PCA
MIO The MIO is tested during power-on. This test
checks to see if the MIO is present and reads
the results of the power-on test. An ªMIO
PRESENT PRESS ENTERº display indicates
a successfull test result. EXIT by pressing the
ENTER button.

Y-friction The pen carriage is moved along the slider
rods with and without the cutter assembly. A
range of PWM signals required to move the
carriage is measured and displayed for both
cases (with and without the cutter) This test is
used to check for excessive friction in the
Y-axis Excessive friction could cause poor
print quality or servo shutdowns. EXIT by
pressing the ENTER button.

Slider Rods
Pen nozzle Drops are fired past the drop sensors of the
print cartridges. A ªPASS TEST PRESS
ENTERº display indicates that all nozzles are
functioning correctly. A failure, including
failed pen identity, is displayed on the front
panel. The failed pen should be reinserted and
retested. If a failure is still indicated, wipe the
pen interconnect surfaces and retest. EXIT by
pressing the ENTER button.
